Importance of Your Dental Health Basic Disease Control

Basic disease control programs are designed for patients to use as part of a home care system.

Emergency dental teeth cleaning regimens  provided in the office are able to reduce significantly bleeding gums.

I render emergency dental care in Kansas City.

Major gains obtained in the dental office must be reinforced at the patient’s home.

Dentists constantly make a strong case for proper flossing and brushing techniques.

We send our patients out of the office with good demonstrations how to implement a good home care program.

The key is a program that can be done in the same manner it is demonstrated.

Mouth washes in the form of prescription or over the counter brands will not resolve the total problem.

There are times formulas in a bottle are looked upon by dentists as shotgun remedies.

Shotgun solutions may initiate some results, but true solutions to gum disease require daily hands on regimens recommended by your dentist.

After a good brushing and flossing regimen, the proxi-brush cleans debris from teeth interproximal areas where bacteria are missed.

Your home care program should include the removal of interproximal debris.

Food breaks down allowing plaque and bacteria to develop.

Toxins seep underneath the gum tissue causing crestal bone loss in its initial stages of breakdown.

A chronic gingivitis is the result of missed opportunities for oral hygiene care.

Automated systems are excellent for oral health but manual toothbrushes are still used by a large segment of our patient base.

For those using manual toothbrushes it is important to use soft bristled brushes.

It is assumed by the public harder bristled brushes are the better cleaning toothbrushes.

We find in dentistry a greater incidence of cervical abrasion with the use of harder bristled toothbrushes.

The enamel and the softer dentin meet at the gumline root junction.

Cervical abrasion is caused by aggressively brushing in a rapid back and forth motion causing a friction burn at the gumline.

The fragile enamel at the gumline is destroyed exposing the tooth root causing sensitivity.

Establish basic disease control with proper brushing and flossing techniques.
