MARS MINDED

WE CARE

Mars Minded

Mars minded individuals are listening to current events discussed about Mars.

Radio programs, movies and the Internet keep the planet Mars on our minds daily.

Volunteers who decide to go in the first wave of space travelers must be adaptable

to the confines of spaceships and harsh conditions becoming  Mars minded.

Dental care now and into the future should be viewed with preventative practices in mind.

Preventative dental care reduces the risk of emergency dental care.

America has sent several probes to the planet reporting data as they roam the terrain.

One of the topics that interest many of us is the distance to Mars from Earth.

Mars and Earth can be (401 million km) 249 million miles apart during times they are not at optimum alignment.

When these 2 planets are at their closest 33.9 million miles (54.6 million km) is the time you have your launch window.

The distance varies greatly, depending on both planets’ position in their orbits.

That translates to an average distance of 12.5 light minutes.

Transmissios from Mars rovers take an average 4 minutes to 24 minutes depending on Mar’s current distance from Earth.

Land rovers on Mars send and receive electro-magnetic waves at the speed of light.

An electro-magnetic signal can be received from millions of miles away.

The speed of light is roughly 300,000 km/second.

In theory Mars Minded  individuals study the alignment of planets and acknowledge when Mars is at its closest

point to the sun and Earth is at its farthest point. Research finds this has never happen in recorded history.

According to NASA a vessel with humans on it would take roughly six months to travel to Mars

and another six months to travel back from Mars.

In addition, astronauts would have to stay 18-20 months on Mars before the planets re-align for a return trip.

In all, the mission would take roughly 2 1/2 years.

Remain Mars minded to understand the passion of the new explorer.

TEETH DECAY

WE CARE

Teeth decay for several reasons, all of which will diminish your ability to chew certain foods.

Teeth decay for many reasons

TEETH DECAY FOR MANY REASONS

In our modern world processed foods only rule the day if healthier

choices are not an option.

Farmer’s markets are available all over America.

Whole food grocers stock organic food items for greater nutrition choices.

You will find sugar in its various forms in many of our large super markets.

Starches and carbohydrates also contain certain types of sugar.

High cavity rates are usually the result of a diet high in sugar content.

Some of our most favorite beverages, soda pop, coffee, baby formula and others will surprise you regarding their

high sugar content.

Patients are informed to wean themselves from drinks with a high sugar content.

To date science has documented the inflammatory processes in our bodies that result from sugar intoxication.

Skin lesions, heart problems, diabetes, yeast and fungal infections, cancer and the disease of the century

Alzhiemers, are some of the major players in the oxidative process that causes havoc in our bodies.

Let’s face it we have a hard time giving up our sweet treats that are capable of killing us.

Our bodies are designed to process certain ranges of sugar consumption.

Make your life an easier one by keeping sugar in its proper perspective.

Enjoy sugary foods in moderation.

Sodas contain phosphoric acid, therefore after consuming, wait a minimum of one hour to brush.

The phosphoric acid breaks down tooth enamel thus softening your teeth.

By waiting one hour to brush the teeth are not as vulnerable to the acid attack from the soda.

Simply rinsing the mouth immediately after ingestion of sugary foods and drinks reduces the risks of the tooth decay

process.

Cancer is fed by the unhealthy consumption of too much sugar.

A great treatment fighter to reduce your chances of cancer is the cessation of sugar ingestion.

When healthcare teams pound this point home, those extra servings of sweet treats can be bypassed with the greatest of ease.

Restoration of the mouth is best viewed through the eyes of those who teach and practice preventative oral medicine.

Oral medicine is best practiced with knowledge teeth decay because of sugary foods.

In fact the entire body is under attack in a state of disease because of excess sugar ingestion.

You can return your body to a state of health drastically cutting back on sugary foods.

The body, your temple for life, will thank you.

Teeth decay because of sugar addiction, that can be treated with drastic reduction in its consumption.

DENTISTS REPLACE GUT FLORA

WE CARE

Dentists replace gut flora after antibiotic therapy has run its course.

Dentists replace gut flora

DENTISTS REPLACE GUT FLORA

Patients come to our clinics in need of emergency dental care.

Antibiotics have long been a first line of defense for the medical and dental community as a whole.

Healthcare providers who practice in the field of oral medicine understand the need to treat deep seated

infections that penertrate into the bone.

Prescription medication carries with it a requirement to do or inflict no harm upon the person who must take it for optimal health.

All medication has some type of side effects that should be known before they are taken.

After the antibiotic has killed off normal body flora, replace flora with

Probiotics are designed to replenish normal gut flora.

It was the father of modern medicine, Hippocrates, that told us 2,000 years ago, many diseases are related to the lack of health in the gastro-intestinal region.

You will use 60% of your body energy during the digestive process.

Having to expend this much energy breaking down the food that we eat helps to understand why fasting will free up energy to assist the body in healing.

Convalesce and take time out to fast on occasion for greater healing.

The body thrives on receiving nutrients required for optimal health and energy.

Bone broth is one way to build and maintain optimal health and energy.

Take the time to find healthy solutions to the ailments of life.

Support good digestive health and you take a quantum leap in the direction of optimum half.

Digestive health is directly proportional to total body health.

Many of the disease processes we encounter are based upon inflammation.

Win the fight against inflammation and you succeed in improving your overall health.

In the past 12 months a tour through a health food store was instrumental in the identification of foods that combat inflammation within the body.

In earlier posts it has been laid out in detail why sugar in its various forms has been identified as one of our primary causes of inflammation.

Dementia, heart attacks, Diabetes, breakdowns in oral health through gum disease and tooth decay all have their roots in processed sugar.

Look to areas of the world where processed sugar is relatively non-existent and ou find a healthier community provided there is adherence to the consumption of whole foods.

Dentists replace gut flora in attempts to help restore the health of their patients.

HIGH RISK DENTAL PATIENTS

WE CARE                                       HIGH RISK DENTAL PATIENTS

High risk dental patients.

HIGH RISK DENTAL PATIENTS

Take the time to understand the needs of high risk dental patients.

Teeth can show tremendous wear from the stress and strain of night grinding called bruxism.

Care must be taken in the restoration of teeth badly worn down that place dental patients at high risk.

Some of a dentist most challenging cases for restoration come after the wear and tear of tooth grinding related

to stress and anxiety.

Dental treatment resulting from this kind of damage can be veer difficult to treat.

Patients will hear fees to repair the damage to teeth from stress and anxiety above and beyond what is considered normal and routine.

More time will be required in the planning of treatment for these cases.

Full mouth rehabilitation is the treatment of choice when every tooth is to be prepared for porcelain crowns,

Some dentist find it easier to prepare the teeth in one jaw at a time to facilitate equilibrium in restoration of the patient’s case.

High risk dental patients can fracture porcelain crowns in the same way they grind away tooth structure during bruxism in their sleep.

Badly worn teeth reduced in size and strength can be restored with porcelain crowns.

To evaluate the patient’s bite relationship, also look at the size of the Masseter muscles.

Very pronounced and developed jaw muscles cause elevated jaw forces measured in pounds per square inch.

Patients with a square jaw deliver very high biting forces.

To help protect the chewing surfaces of restored teeth a bite guard is fabricated.

The bite guard is worn at night to minimize forces that are harmful to the teeth.

Worn on a regular basis, it will reduce porcelain fracture of the new crowns.

Those we treat capable of fracturing their teeth, are referred to as high risk dental patients.

Allow patients undergoing dental rehabilitation to wear provisional crowns also known as temporary crowns to wear them approximately 90 days.

The 90 day period provides valuable information before the final restorations are cemented.

Patients should expect to wear the night guard as a protective device not only at night but during times of high stress.

You greatly reduce the risk of porcelain fracture wearing this device.

Indicators of damage to the teeth are wear facets greatly reducing the ability of a patient

to smile and crew effectively.

High risk dental patients can improve the function of their teeth with well planned restoration.

SURVIVALIST TRAINING

WE CARE   Survivalist Traning

Defining survivalist training.st

 SURVIVALIST TRAINING

Survivalist training prepares a person to be all he/she can be even in the toughest of times.

Keep your eyes and ears open to understand what can be done in spite of life’s difficulties.

The gun case in this picture was taken at a shooting gallery in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

Bullets fly all day on the shooting range at Frontier Justice.

They have a wide assortment of weapons in their facility.

You will hear citizens stockpiling ammunition like there’s giong to be no tomorrow.

It becomes an interesting proposition learning what must be done to survive the coming business cycle.

Economic turmoil is a part of the business cycle. What goes up in the market is bounew to come back down at some point.

A speaker was on the radio this morning discussing how the railroad spawned quite a few wealthy men of that day.

They rode an ideal wave of fortune on the backs of Americans during the industrial revolution.

In my profession dentistry, consultants inform dentists to work 4 strong and fruitful days.

We are encouraged to take time off each week to convalesce and refresh the spirit.

The best therapy for weariness is rest and quality time spent with friends and family.

What you are able to provide from labor are creature comforts that won’t carry much value if the trade off

is your health.

You can learn valuable lessons from men and women living off the American power grid.

Severe weather patterns keep us mindful just how frail the human body really is in the whole scheme of things.

Would you be able to survive if all the comforts of home were taken from you?

Spend a few nights out of doors to appreciate survivalist training where the bare essentials of life are at your disposal.

One survivalist states our bare essentials are water, food and clothing.

Personally shelter would be on my list where the roof is solid and able to keep rain at bay and drastic swings in temperature under control.

Survivalist training regimens expose you to your weaknesses with intentions of making you stronger and more viable.

After a romp in the woods for the weekend you appreciate the comforts of home.

You even return to work more focused and energized.

Take time out of your busy schedule to reconnect with nature and find the fruit of minimalism.

In minimalism is simplicity the main lesson in survivalist training.

HORIZONTALLY IMPACTED TEETH

WE CARE

Horizontally impact teeth

HORIZONTALLY IMPACTED TEETH

Horizontally impacted teeth are portals for infection to enter the body.

Left untreated they create tremendous health risk for the dental patient.

Dentists find themselves having to remove impacted wisdom teeth also known as third molars.

For most patients wisdom teeth are hard to reach and keep clean.

Their position in the jaw is one of the reasons their removal is recommended.

The size of the jaws in relation to the position of these teeth have been a problem for mankind for many years.

They can erupt into the mouth pointing out towards the cheek, or partially erupt forming a food trap around their coronal aspect.

Third molars at times stay submerged and bacteria over the years is trapped around them causing mouth oder and abscess formation.

Antibiotics can be used in the short term but plan to remove them for better oral health.

Parents seeking consultation are usually told patients can have third molars removed in the early teens.

Infection deep within the jaw spreads from the formation of bacterial gases expanding at a steady rate.

Pain ensues because of pressure build up within hard tissues.

Some of your more difficult teeth to remove are horizontally impacted teeth.

In relation to the tooth growth patterns any tooth has the potential to grow at angles different from their normal positions.

Mid jaw smaller molars known as premolars can be trapped under the gums, crowded out of their normal position.

They become crowded out of their normal positions because deciduous teeth may be lost before the final eruption sequence into the oral cavity.

It requires orthodontic intervention to surgically access horizontally impacted cuspids in the maxillary jaw.

A small access preparation exposes the cuspid and ligature wire is used to engage it, guiding the tooth over time into a more normal position.

View the mouth as a class one over system similar to a nutcracker.

Most of the more profound chewing occurs in the most posterior part of the mouth where the psi of chewing stroke is highest and most efficient.

A nutcracker functions in the same manner.

Patients are encouraged to maintain their teeth in order to not overwork them. Molars are designed to take on the load of chewing.

Horzontally impacted teeth can bemore difficult to remove than erupted teeth because they grow at angles subgingivally.

MEDICAID TREATMENT OPTIONS

WE CARE

Medicaid treatment options in dental health.

MEDICAID TREATMENT OPTIONS

Medicaid treatment options are still available to qualified recipients under the age of 21 years in the state of Missouri.

Dentists in Missouri who accept patients covered under Medicaid benefits inform family members to continue routine dental care.

Mothers and fathers are advised to bring children under this program to dental offices for routine dental care.

America continues on a downward spiral in dentistry into facilities that render emergency dental care.

This form of care causes an overrun stressing the limits of clinics providing emergency services.

In the evenings through after hours care in dentistry dental patients with severe toothache pain fill hospital emergency rooms.

Hospital emergency rooms work on a triage format, treating those with medical emergencies as a first priority.

Emergency room staff treat dental emergencies with all the care and respect given to any other patient in crisis.

In a system where life threatening concerns automatically come first patients have been known to wait in some emergency rooms upwards of 6 hours.

This time would be better spent relaxing at home or gaining knowledge reading or engaged in other worthwhile activities.

Many man power hours are lost waiting in emergency room facilities.

If at all possible we ask patients with dental emergencies to start the process of resolving dental problems earlier in the day.

Your choices are greatly expanded due to the fact more clinics are open during business hours.

You may receive medication for infection control and pain relief same as hospital emergency rooms at a fraction of the waiting time.

Routne visits to your family dental facility prevent the cause of many common dental emergencies.

Patients seek the care of dentists for the first time because of halitosis and pain relief usually tooth related.

Accidents in general resulting in head trauma should be evaluated by a medical team to rule out potential medical concerns.

Car accidents, falls, and different sorts of blunt forced trauma require medical follow up as well as dental visits.

Efficient and well run state programs require excellent management at every level.

It is the job of all healthcare staff to run their clinics as efficiently as possible, especially at the managed care level.

One of the easiest ways to get slashes in state medical and dental programs is through a duplication of services.

In dentistry over the years it has been witnessed how services rendered in one fiscal year are not available in the next.

Medicaid treatment options remain available for the majority of patients under the age of 21 years.

AMERICA’S AGING INFRASTRUCTURE

WE CARE

America's aging infrastructure

AMERICA’S AGING INFRASTRUCTURE

America’s aging infrastructure places all citizens at risk who depend upon healthy water for drinking and bathing.

A story appeared in Sport’s Illustrated’s most recent issue.

“Troubled Water” by Michael Rosenberg is about the water problems in Flint, Michigan.

Flint, Michigan, before 2014 purchased a portion of its water from Detroit, Michigan.

In cost cutting measures Flint’s water supply started coming directly from their river.

All over America pipes to our homes and businesses are lined in lead.

The Detroit Free Press per the article says that it reported in October 2014 that General Motors pulled an engine plant off the river feed because the water was corroding its parts.

The city kept using it. The water was not good enough for a Cadillac, but it was fine for a child.

America’s aging infrastructure has many areas with lead lined pipes.

Lead causes brain and kidney damage, along with learning disabilities.

In Flint, Mchigan, water was drawn from the river without using corrosion control to prevent lead from seeping from ancient pipes carrying water into people’s homes.

Flint where the poverty rate is 41.5% and 56.6% of the population is African -Amercan, is where America hides from itself.

“The biggest challenge is changing mindsets”, says Hawkins.

Kids start to make what they see into their reality.

Healthcare providers must stand firm at the gate to know and deliver what is healthy for ther communities.

We do not want to look back and let them write the history of massive genocide due to our water supply.

Remember the words of your hippocratic oath to do no harm.

It is written you will know the truth and the truth shall set you free.

In your freedom take the time to be the difference in your household, community, state and country.

In each community of our country you can check with the environmental protection agency to verify the safety of your water supply.

What has happen in Flint is not an isolated incident in America.

This incident has the potential to raise its ugly head anywhere.

A dentist has a great platform from his/her dental office to educate the public regarding what can be done in order to remain safe.

Every household should have an emergency boil plan in place long before there is a problem evident with drinking water.

America’s aging infrastructure is a problem that must be addressed by all who are willing to make a difference.

OLD DENTAL BRIDGEWORK

WE CARE

Old dental bridgework

OLD DENTAL BRIDGEWORK

Removing old dental bridgework does not always have to feel like you’ve dropped into a downward spiral.

Downward spirals make dentists feel there is no end in sight when problems are encountered.

One problem in particular is the necessity to cut away bridges from underlying healthy tooth structure.

This procedure is time consuming and must be well planned to not get backed up because of tight scheduling.

Tight scheduling is fine for routine dental procedures but not the case for the removal of old dental bridgework.

Removing permanently cemented or bonded bridges is no easy matter and are not classified as routine procedures.

Allow extra  care and time for their removal.

Careful dissection of metal in the oral cavity finds a dentist operating in close proximity to living tissue.

What you need to be successful is a high speed hand piece and a series of fresh carbide 557 burs and various assortments of diamond burs.

Zirconium porcelain bridges are extremely strong and best dissected with industrial diamonds.

Bridges fabricated of precious metals are easier to cut due to the density of these metals.

Carbide burs cut through them like a hot knife plowing into butter.

On the other hand non-precious metals, nickel based alloys in particular require you pack a lunch and come prepared to put in overtime.

A patient was seen in my dental office for removal of a 5 unit bridge, porcelain fused to a non-precious metal.

The patient was given an anti-anxiety agent to reduce the stress and strain inherrant in long  span removal of old dental bridges.

A special type of bridge removal instrument operates to remove bridges with a tapping motion.

Care is taken with this tool in order not to fracture teeth underneath the bridge.

Advise patients there is a risk involved removing old dental bridgework.

Recurrent decay underneath and around the margins of crowns can cause tooth fracture.

With this knowledge patients may also elect to receive endodontic therapy leaving the bridge in place.

The tooth is treated making an access preparation in the palatal or occlusal aspect of the tooth.

You save the bridge in this manner and repair reachable damage.

Intelligent conversations with your dental patients help to create workable options that become doable for the patient.

Spend quality time planning these procedures and save time by having on hand what is desired to perform the treatment.

Removing old dental bridgework can best be achieved after time is well spent planning your case.
